The COVID-19 lockdown and the subsequent travel restrictions have hit the travel and hospitality industry the most. Given the virus’s spread and the subsequent fear it has created, the industry will have to brace itself for some long-lasting changes, as Piplsay (powered by Market Cube) finds out. Brands in the travel and hospitality domain can leverage this data in their decision making.
COVID-19 has almost crippled the travel industry as countries shut their borders and restrict the movement of people to avoid the spread of the virus. Besides the economic downturn, the virus has also altered our carefree attitude towards travel in general, at least for the time being. So how will the COVID-19 pandemic impact the travel and hospitality industry in the days to come? Piplsay polled 30,787 Americans nationwide to get some insights. Here’s a summary of what we found:
- 54% of Millennials and 49% of Gen Zers plan to travel once the lockdown is over
- Less than 10% of people across all ages are open to international travel this year given the COVID-19 spread
- 59% of men and 49% of women trust businesses to follow all safety protocols post the lockdown
Survey Methodology: This Piplsay survey (powered by Market Cube) was conducted nationwide in the US in the month of April 2020. We received 30,787 online responses from individuals aged 18 years and older.
