Oscar nominations often become a talking point because of the snubs and misses, and this year was no different. Piplsay (powered by Market Cube) polled 31,421 Americans nationwide to find out who would they choose as their favorites this awards season. Entertainment portals, as well as Academy members, can use this data to gauge public sentiments ahead of the 2020 Oscars.
The final Oscar nominations were announced this week and boy did we see some major snubs! From JLo and Robert De Niro to Avengers: Endgame and Frozen 2, some of the big names were conspicuously missing from the list, making many go No! and What! with surprise.
While the academy ultimately chooses the nominees and the winners, we decided to ask 31,421 Americans about the movies and actors they think deserve to win the top honors. And surprise surprise! We saw some popular but ignored names dominating our top 3 list. Here’s a quick summary.
- Lupita Nyong’o is favorite among Gen Zers, Renee Zellweger scores with Baby boomers
- Renee Zellweger and Joaquim Pheonix are the top choices for White Americans
- Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan are the top choices for Black Americans
- Frozen 2 outranks Toy story 4 across all age groups, except 18 to 23-year-olds
